I love the trainers here and how well they not only teach effective and force-free training, but also help troubleshoot individual issues. My puppy is almost done with his puppy kindergarten class and we’ve had a blast, built our bond, and most recently I’m grateful that I learned how to teach him to take treats gently. He got the concept quickly and my shredded thumb is so thankful. 😂 We’ll definitely be coming back for future classes - 100% worth driving from Arlington to Ballard for these trainers. ❤️
Took my 5th GSD here, and now my 6th. The published research is clear, pain and punishment doesn't train and causes aggression and fear.
Ahimsa is research-supported positive training.
This new puppy is very worried about other dogs I appreciate that they are tailoring puppy kindergarten to meet her needs, while not taking away from the other puppies in the class.
My 5th GSD was a confident male and I love seeing how they can fit the class to different dogs needs.
At puppy Kindergarten, they're very accommodating of dogs of all behaviors! Our shy puppy has a very safe and low-pressure environment to socialize with other puppies, gets great excellent training onsite, and I feel much more capable of teaching our girl at home too! Feels like a must-have experience for all Seattle area puppies.
Took my dog here a while ago for lessons but it was a waste of money. The trainers also need some training themselves as my puppy was bitten by another puppy on their watch and required multiple stitches. I’ve been to other training places since and as a result realized how bad Ahimsa actually is.
Top class puppy training! I brought my pug puppy Tatami to the puppy kindergarten and she had a blast! Trainers were professional, patient, friendly. How they coordinate puppy play time helps Tatami broke out of her shell and started playing confidently. The progress has been amazing.
The biggest problem with ahimsa is that they are not adaptable. They believe every dog is the same and it's their way or the highway. There are many better training options in Seattle for a much better price - places where they will treat your dog as an individual. Places where they will treat both owners and dogs with respect, unlike ahimsa.
We worked with them and their philosophy for a year and immediately got results once we gave up on forcing the ahimsa method on our pup. He's progressed miles beyond what I think ahimsa is capable of.
I regret all of the time and money I wasted at ahimsa. Consider other options and avoid this "bougie" place that thinks they're the best in the city.
We took our puppy here for puppy kindergarten and puppy play time and will consider more advanced classes in the future as she grows :)
Knowledgeable instructors who will work with you and answer any questions, and great to have a set aside time to work on training your dog.
We signed up our recent rescue pup for Basic Manners in June 2022. Ken and Mary led the class and I cannot say enough good things about this organization and their trainers. The classes are small, and the trainers are focused on providing the best possible environment, and the follow up homework they email after class is well structured and easy to understand. I would highly recommend this organization to everyone looking to receive a comprehensive foundation for training. We definitely will be using their classes again in the future!
